PCMCIA & PCMCIA II storage devices are manufactured by Toshiba, and are increasing in popularity. These devices are now commonly included in the latest laptops and in some instances replace the conventional hard drive.
PCMCIA media is also found in other transportable storage devices, such as PDAs and the Apple iPod.
A PCMCIA drive is 1.8 inches in size and is designed to be small, lightweight and portable. Typically, the PCMCIA drive offers storage capacities ranging from 1GB to 160GB.
