Data in a RAID 0 array is written across various different disks, resulting in faster data transfer. RAID 0 systems offer the best performance, since the workload is balanced between each of the array members. The main disadvantage of a RAID 0 array is that there is no fault-tolerance; thus if one drive fails then all data in the RAID system is lost.
To reduce the chances of RAID failure it is recommended that the RAID systems be installed with identical drives for performance as well as data storage efficiency. The data capacity of the RAID array is equal to the number of disk drives multiplied by the smallest drive capacity. For example, one 120GB and one 80GB drives will form a 160GB (80GBx2) disk array.
Since there is no fault-tolerance with this type of RAID configuration, data recovery from this type of array can be very complex. Attempting RAID recovery using an inexperienced engineer can result in total data loss. All of Fields Data Recovery’s senior technicians are certified RAID experts. This dramatically increases your chances of getting your data back and in the shortest possible time period.

"Our server had been working without any problems for years, we thought we had an adequate back up policy. As is always the case with these things we found out we didn't too late. Fields had us up and running very quickly especially considering we sent the server to a higher priced lab first." - Jeff Long - Ink Express, Febuary 2009 [ Read More ]
